Uisce Éireann has confirmed that a programme of reservoir cleaning is under way this week across South Donegal to safeguard supplies for households and businesses. Bypass arrangements are in operation at most locations to limit impact, but some customers may notice lower pressure, temporary discolouration or short-term interruptions during or after the activity.
Crews are cleaning Cullion Boy Reservoir within the River Eske Water Supply Area, followed by Glencoagh Reservoir this afternoon, which serves the Frosses–Inver Public Water Supply area. A bypass is being used to minimise any interruptions.
Following this, teams will move to Leghaney Reservoir, with Ballinakillew Reservoir scheduled for the afternoon, supplying customers in the River Eske (Donegal Town) zone. These works are not expected to cause supply issues for the majority of customers.
Once completed, maintenance will take place at Corker Reservoir, which serves Corker, Coolmore, Coolbeg and the Rossnowlagh areas. A bypass will be in operation throughout to reduce the risk of outages.
Uisce Éireann's Damien O'Sullivan explained: "These works are essential to safeguard the quality and reliability of our water supply. Our crews work diligently throughout the cleaning process to ensure that any disruptions are kept to a minimum for customers. Uisce Éireann understands the inconvenience when planned works like this occur and thanks customers for their patience."
Crews will work between 8am and 6pm and will aim to complete cleaning and return supplies to normal as quickly as possible.
