Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed the investment, which will improve the condition of the B93 from No. 69 Ahoghill Road to the junction with the Portglenone Road. The scheme has commenced and is due to complete just before Easter.
Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the Randalstown area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. Work is expected to be substantially completed by Friday 3 April 2026. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To deliver the works safely, weekday lane closures (8.00 am to 6.00 pm) will operate until Friday 13 March with traffic signals in place. From Monday 16 March to Friday 3 April 2026, complete daytime road closures will be implemented. The route will remain open to traffic overnight and at weekends.
A signed diversion will direct Ballymena-bound traffic via the B52 Portglenone Road and B18 Whitesides Road, with the reverse arrangement for Randalstown-bound vehicles.
The Department for Infrastructure has programmed the operations and traffic management to minimise disruption. While local access and Translink bus and school services will be accommodated throughout, motorists should expect some delays, allow extra time, and comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.
