Uisce Éireann teams are continuing complex repair works on a major burst affecting Fruit Hill, Fishertown, Great Island and nearby areas, with a tanker in place at Horeswood Church and a boil-before-use advisory for collected water.

Crews remain on site in Great Island working to fix a significant burst on the water main impacting customers across the locality. Due to the challenging nature of the job, works will carry on into tomorrow to restore normal supply as quickly and safely as possible.

An alternative water supply via tanker is available at Horeswood Church. Customers should bring their own containers and, as a precaution, boil any water taken from the tanker before use.

Uisce Éireann's Padraig Lyng said: "We would like to thank the local community for their patience and support while these challenging and complex repairs continue. We understand the inconvenience caused by an unplanned interruption to the water supply, and our crews are working hard on site to restore normal service as quickly and as safely as possible."

Once repairs are completed, most customers can expect supply to return within two to three hours; properties at the end of the network or at higher elevations may experience a longer delay while the system recharges.

Traffic management remains in place for the safety of crews and the public and will be clearly signposted for the duration of the works.
