Relinea has been named as a finalist for the ICE Awards 2026, with its industry-leading GRP Platform System shortlisted in the Construction Product Innovation category.
The Irish Construction Excellence Awards are regarded as the premier benchmark for quality and performance within the Irish built environment, celebrating companies that deliver measurable improvements in innovation and sustainability.
The shortlisting highlights the role of Relinea's GRP Platforms in redefining access solutions across modern infrastructure. Developed as a high-performance alternative to traditional steel, the system is designed to be lightweight yet exceptionally strong. It offers significant advantages in demanding environments, being non-conductive, non-sparking, and resistant to both chemicals and corrosion.
A key factor in the system's recognition is its contribution to site safety. Unlike steel alternatives, Relinea's modular GRP Platforms eliminate the need for hot works on-site and significantly reduce manual handling risks. The product is fully compliant with DIN 14122 requirements alongside UK and European standards, boasting a maintenance-free design life exceeding 50 years.
The GRP Platform system has already seen widespread adoption across Europe in sectors such as data centres, wastewater treatment plants, hospitals, and high-rise residential developments. Relinea frequently collaborates with major Tier One contractors, including John Sisk & Son, Walls Construction, Winthrop, PJ Hegarty, Mercury Engineering, Glanua, and Coffey Group.
From a technical perspective, the system facilitates faster installation programmes and simplified logistics due to reduced requirements for lifting equipment. The integration of in-house 3D CAD and BIM ensures seamless coordination with contractor models, allowing for clash-free installation and enhanced quality assurance. Furthermore, the platforms offer a lower embodied carbon footprint compared to galvanised steel, supporting the industry's drive toward more sustainable construction.
With more than two decades of composite engineering expertise, the employee-owned company continues to focus on research and development to improve long-term asset performance and accessibility compliance.
The winners will be announced at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards Gala Event, held at the Convention Centre Dublin on Thursday, 28 May 2026. This recognition serves as a testament to the expertise of the Relinea team and the trust placed in their innovative solutions by the Irish construction industry.
