Uisce Éireann has advised customers in County Donegal that essential cleaning of reservoirs is ongoing this week as part of efforts to safeguard the quality and reliability of supplies for homes and businesses.
Bypass systems are in place at most sites to minimise disruption; however, some customers may experience lower pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent supply during the works and shortly afterwards.
Crews are currently working at Dunkineely Reservoir on the Killybegs Water Supply, with works scheduled at Twintowers Reservoir on the Owenteskna Public Water Supply on Wednesday.
On Thursday, activity is planned at Owenteskna Water Treatment Plant and Glenballadung Reservoir. On Friday, reservoir cleaning is due to take place at Ard an Rátha on the Na Gleannta Public Water Supply. Teams will aim to return services to normal as quickly as possible once each task is completed.
Uisce Éireann's Damien O'Sullivan said: "These reservoir cleaning works are essential to safeguarding the quality and reliability of the water supply for communities across Donegal. Our crews work carefully throughout the process to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum, and we thank customers for their patience while this important maintenance continues."
Works will run daily between 8am and 6pm, with crews striving to complete the essential cleaning and maintain normal supply levels where possible.
Uisce Éireann, which delivers public drinking water and wastewater services in Ireland, says it remains committed to upgrading and developing critical infrastructure to support sustainable growth, provide safe drinking water and enhance the environment.
