A £342,000 carriageway resurfacing project on Halfpenny Gate Road, Lisburn, is scheduled to start on Monday 2 March 2026.

The improvement scheme will cover a distance of approximately 1.94 km, stretching from the Meadow Road junction to Robbery Road.

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the Lisburn and Castlereagh area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To allow the works to proceed, road closures will be in effect on Halfpenny Gate Road between Meadow Road and Robbery Road. These closures will operate Monday to Friday only, from 8 am to 6 pm, beginning Monday 2 March and lasting until early July 2026.

A signed diversion route will be in place during these periods via Halfpenny Gate Road, Meadow Road, A3 Lisburn Road, A3 Moira Road, Gravelhill Road, Lurganure Road, and Halfpenny Gate Road.

The Department for Infrastructure has planned the project to reduce disruption, and local access will be accommodated where possible. However, motorists are advised to expect delays, allow extra travel time, and adhere to all temporary traffic restrictions.

Provided weather conditions remain favourable, the project is expected to be substantially finished by Friday 10 July 2026. The Department has committed to providing further updates should any changes to the schedule occur.
