GRAHAM Completes Piling On £70m Passivhaus Leisure Scheme

GRAHAM has finished piling works on the £70m Fermanagh Lakeland Forum Redevelopment in Enniskillen, marking a key step towards delivering Ireland's first Passivhaus-certified public leisure facility.

Let under the Pagabo Major Works Framework for Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, the scheme highlights the role of UK public sector frameworks in accelerating complex, sustainability-led social infrastructure.

The piling milestone concludes a major phase of early construction and clears the way for below-ground activities, including drainage and foundation installation. Works are also progressing outside the main building footprint, with sub-structure operations advancing for the new car park and access road network.

Supported by £20m from the UK Government, the redevelopment will transform the existing site into a modern leisure, health and wellbeing hub overlooking the River Erne, enhancing community provision and visitor appeal.

Due to complete in 2028, the centre will incorporate swimming pools, a gym and fitness suite, community wellbeing areas, a sensory room, soft play and a café. An extensive outdoor offer is planned, featuring a destination play park, pump track, 3G pitch, active waterfront and new walking and cycling trails.

As a Passivhaus-certified development, the building is designed to deliver exceptional energy performance and reduced environmental impact in operation, aligning with the wider public sector focus on efficiency and whole-life carbon across the UK.

William Gott, Project Manager at GRAHAM, said: "Completing the piling works marks an important milestone for this landmark project. Our team and partners have worked incredibly hard to reach this stage, and we're pleased to see strong progress on site.

"We look forward to moving into the next phase and continuing to help deliver a modern, energy efficient leisure facility for the local community."

Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said: "It is excellent to see the project reach this important milestone, with piling now complete and the next stages of construction already underway. This iconic project remains on target, and each step forward brings us closer to delivering a state-of-the-art leisure facility in Enniskillen.

"I want to acknowledge the hard work of everyone involved and thank our partners, contractors and the local community for their continued support. We look forward to seeing the foundations take shape over the coming months as the build progresses."

The Fermanagh Lakeland Forum Redevelopment underlines GRAHAM's role in delivering large-scale, sustainable community assets, with lessons applicable across the UK leisure and wellbeing sector.
