Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced the commencement of a £290,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the B43 Pomeroy Road in Donaghmore.
The project covers a 1.5-kilometre stretch between Coolmaghery Road and Tullyleek Road. The works involve full-width resurfacing alongside targeted substructure patching designed to significantly strengthen the road's foundation at various locations.
Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment in the Donaghmore to Pomeroy route which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
To ensure the safety of the workforce and the public, a daily road closure will be in effect for five weeks, beginning 2 March. The closure will be active from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm each day, during which time through traffic will be diverted via a signed route. The diversion encompasses the B43 Pomeroy Road, B160 Tanderagee Road, B160 Annaghquin Road, A29 Cookstown Road, C636 Tullycullion Road, and B43 Main Street.
While the Department for Infrastructure has planned the traffic management to minimise disruption, road users are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for journeys. Local access will be accommodated where possible, but all motorists are asked to comply with temporary restrictions.
The resurfacing project is scheduled for completion by Saturday 4 April 2026, provided weather conditions remain favourable. The Department has committed to providing updates to the public should there be any changes to the programme.
