Sisk Infrastructure, a division of Ireland's largest construction group, has been named as one of three successful contractors for a significant new six-year framework.
Appointed by National Highways, the firm will play a key role in the £968m national Legacy Concrete Roads Reconstruction Framework.
This new agreement succeeds the previous concrete roads framework, under which Sisk Infrastructure successfully completed two reconstruction schemes. The upcoming phase of work will focus on full-depth reconstruction and is scheduled to span the RIS3 funding period, while also overlapping with the start of RIS4.
The programme is designed to replace ageing concrete surfaces with modern road designs. This approach aims to create more resilient routes while providing a smoother and quieter experience for road users.
Alan Rodger, Managing Director of Sisk Infrastructure, said: "We're absolutely delighted that we have been awarded a position on the new Legacy Concrete Roads Renewal framework, allowing us to bring best practice and value from our experience on the previous framework. We look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with National Highways and to working with our new framework partners and local supply chain to deliver this next programme of improvements."
The initiative is part of a long-term strategic effort by National Highways to ensure the safety and reliability of the motorway and major A-road network.
Nick Knorr, Head of the National Concrete Roads Programme, said: "The national concrete roads programme is a critical long term strategic programme of renewals for National Highways, ensuring our roads are safe and reliable for drivers, maximising the benefits of this significant investment in the future of England's motorways and major A roads. By replacing aging concrete roads with modern designs, we're ensuring smoother, quieter, and more resilient routes for millions of people. Building on the success of recent reconstruction schemes, this next phase will be delivered in partnership with our supply chain, helping us bring lasting improvements to communities and businesses across England."
