The Boil Water Notice affecting the Lough Public Water Supply has been lifted with immediate effect, according to Uisce Éireann.
Following consultation with the Health Service Executive, the utility confirmed that customers can now resume normal use of their water supply for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth.
The notice was originally issued on 6 March as a precautionary measure to protect public health after a microbiological failure was detected in a single sample taken from the network. Approximately 1,872 customers were affected.
Uisce Éireann said the decision to lift the notice follows consistent satisfactory sampling results from the water network. Drinking water specialists worked to resolve the issue and restore safe supply as quickly as possible.
James Joyce acknowledged the disruption caused to the local community. "We are pleased to confirm that the Boil Water Notice has now been lifted, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of customers while our drinking water experts worked to resolve the issue."
Areas impacted by the notice included Killenard, Garryvacum, Ballybrittas, Lough, Ballycarroll and surrounding communities.
