NI Water will carry out emergency works to a combined foul and storm sewer on Belfast Road, close to Model Primary School in Carrickfergus.
The programme will begin on Saturday 28 March 2026 and is expected to finish by midnight on Sunday 12 April 2026.
Inspections have confirmed the sewer requires immediate repairs to ensure it continues to operate effectively and serve local properties.
Phase one is scheduled for Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March and will involve a single-lane closure in both directions between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands. Delays are anticipated.
Phase two will run from Wednesday 8 to Sunday 12 April, with a range of traffic management measures in place to facilitate a full road crossing.
During phase two, measures will include: a contraflow between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands; a lane two closure in both directions between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands; and a Lane 1 closure on the Carrickfergus-bound approach between Windmill Avenue and Castlerocklands.
Throughout all phases, a right turn out of Windmill Avenue will be prohibited, with traffic diverted via the roundabout at Rodgers Quay. Road users should expect delays at peak times and allow extra time for journeys.
