Energia Group has extended its Greener Possibilities Fund for a further year, maintaining support for community and climate initiatives across the island of Ireland throughout 2026.
Now in its fourth year, the fund was created to back projects addressing the climate crisis and climate resilience, protecting biodiversity, and delivering community-focused work.
Aligned to UN SDG 11 Sustainable Communities and SDG 13 Climate Action, the programme has been supporting four charities: Global Action Plan Ireland and FoodCloud in the Republic of Ireland, and Grow NI and Keep NI Beautiful in Northern Ireland. The 2026 extension will continue funding for these organisations.
To date, around 58,000 people have benefited from activities supported by Greener Possibilities. In 2026, reach is expected to grow as the partnership with Keep NI Beautiful transitions to its Green Flags programme. The fund continues to be administered by Community Foundation Ireland, an independent philanthropic body that provides external governance and oversight.
With support from the fund, Global Action Plan Ireland's community garden in Blanchardstown has welcomed more than 4,800 visitors and hosted 42 local community groups for a range of activities. Following the extension, Global Action Plan (GAP) said: "We are thrilled to continue working with Energia Group, whose support over the past few years has been tremendous. The Greener Possibilities Fund has enabled our GLAS community gardens to develop even further, and blossom into the welcoming places for social inclusion and environmental education, offering spaces where everyone is welcome and can learn how to live more sustainably."
