Waterford City and County Council has launched a public consultation on a proposed Part 8 development for the Portlaw Courthouse Quarter in Portlaw, County Waterford.
The scheme proposes converting the former courthouse into a community centre featuring flexible multi-use space, meeting rooms and changing facilities. Market Square would be upgraded and pedestrianised to create a civic public space.
Streets and traffic measures include narrowing Factory Road to provide a new footpath, additional parking and electric vehicle charging points. At Malcomson Square, the existing roundabout would be removed and replaced with a junction as part of wider traffic-calming to improve pedestrian access, parking and traffic flow.
Plans and documents can be viewed and downloaded via the Waterford City & County Council public consultations portal. The closing date for submissions is 4pm on 16 April 2026.
