EirGrid will bring its Energy Citizens Roadshow to Newcastle later this month.
The free event will run from 6.15pm to 8.30pm on Monday 30 March at St Finian’s Community Hall, Newcastle, Co. Dublin. Specialists from SEAI (Ireland's national sustainable energy authority), ESB Networks and South Dublin County Council will join EirGrid to offer guidance on home energy efficiency upgrades, retrofitting grants, community micro‑generation schemes and initiatives aimed at building a more sustainable future for the Dublin South West area.
The roadshow coincides with EirGrid's public consultation on its 'Kildare Dublin' programme with communities in east Kildare and South Dublin. Members of the project team will be on hand to answer questions and outline proposals to strengthen the electricity grid across the region.
A range of local exhibitors will also attend, sharing the latest information on home renewable energy upgrades, heat pumps and solar energy.
Speaking ahead of the roadshow, Sinead Dooley, Head of Public Engagement with EirGrid, said: "Our priority is to ensure communities feel informed and supported as Ireland transitions to a cleaner energy future. These events give members of the public an opportunity to speak directly with experts, ask questions, and understand the steps they can take to reduce energy costs and contribute to a more sustainable region. Those who attend can also find out more about all the supports available at a local and national level, and I would encourage people to come in and meet us on the night."
She added: "We also understand people's concerns regarding energy consumption and the need for savings, so we are pleased to have exhibitors from a range of organisations and community energy groups. We look forward to hearing from industry leaders, community representatives and attendees to share knowledge in working towards achieving our energy goals."
