Clancy Construction has named Cormac Smith to its Board of Directors and appointed Tommy Drumm as Strategic Board Adviser, a position closely aligned to that of a Non-Executive Director.
The moves bolster the company's governance as it advances a five-year growth plan targeting turnover of €250 million, while maintaining high-quality delivery for clients across all markets.
Smith, who has more than 25 years' experience in construction, has spent the past three years at Clancy as an Associate Director. He has led complex programmes across healthcare, pharmaceutical, commercial and education projects.
A Project Management Professional and member of the Project Management Institute, Smith is recognised for his strategic leadership in project delivery. His industry service includes terms as President of the Master Builders and Contractors Association and Chairman of the Construction Industry Federation's Cork Branch. He also contributes to the CIF National Executive's Procurement, Tendering and Contractual Matters subcommittee.
Drumm brings five decades of industry experience. A Fellow of Engineers Ireland and former President of the Master Builders and Contractors Association, he previously served as Managing Director and Board Adviser at Collen Construction.
Since stepping back from executive roles, Drumm has advised several family-owned firms at board level. His expertise spans people, general, financial and project management, with delivery across data centres, oil and gas, civil engineering, residential, commercial, leisure and property development. His international track record includes Ireland, Britain, Australia, Thailand, the Middle East, Spain and Portugal.
Commenting on the appointments, Managing Director John O'Shaughnessy said: "We are delighted to welcome Cormac and Tommy to the board of Clancy Construction. Their combined experience, leadership and industry insight will be invaluable as we continue to grow the business. These appointments strengthen our Board and position us well to deliver on our strategic ambitions over the coming years."
Tommy Drumm said: "I am privileged to have been invited to advise the Clancy Construction Board strategically and I am very much looking forward to seeing the company's continued growth first hand. Clancy's core values, history and project experience are impressive, and I would like to thank the Board, the Clancy family and staff for the warmth of their welcome."
Cormac Smith added: "I am honoured to join the Board of Clancy Construction at such an exciting time for the business. Having worked closely with the team over the past number of years, I have seen first-hand the strength of our people, our culture and our delivery capability. I look forward to contributing to the next phase of growth and continuing to deliver high quality outcomes for our clients."
Collectively, the appointments expand the Board's experience, strategic insight and oversight capacity, positioning Clancy Construction for its next phase of growth.
