Uisce Éireann Earns Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer

Uisce Éireann has been recognised at Transformational level under the Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer Standard, the scheme's highest tier. The accolade reflects the organisation's drive to deliver transformative water services by making continuous professional development a core enabler of performance, integration and long-term delivery.

Transformational status is conferred on employers where CPD is fully woven into leadership, organisational culture and business strategy. For Uisce Éireann, it acknowledges how professional learning underpins its operation as a single national utility and its capability to provide safe, secure and sustainable water and wastewater services that help communities to thrive.

As Ireland's publicly owned national water authority, Uisce Éireann plays a pivotal role in supporting housing delivery, economic growth and environmental protection. Fulfilling this remit requires a highly skilled, engaged and future‑focused engineering workforce able to plan, deliver and operate critical national infrastructure at scale.

Engineers Ireland cited Uisce Éireann's strong leadership commitment to professional development, the clear alignment of CPD with organisational priorities, and the integration of CPD into workforce planning, talent development and delivery outcomes. This approach supports the organisation's broader transformation and its ambition to collaborate more effectively across disciplines, regions and functions.

Commenting on the achievement, Niall Gleeson, Chief Executive of Uisce Éireann, said: "Achieving Transformational level accreditation from Engineers Ireland is a significant milestone for Uisce Éireann. It reflects our determination to invest in our people, build professional capability and support the delivery of essential water services that communities and the economy rely on, now and into the future."

The Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer Standard provides a structured framework to help engineering employers enhance professional competence and organisational capability through continuing professional development. Transformational status recognises organisations where CPD demonstrably strengthens long‑term delivery, resilience and sustainable outcomes.

Uisce Éireann will continue to invest in its people and foster a culture of lifelong learning and professional excellence, ensuring it has the skills, leadership and capability to deliver vital water infrastructure, protect the environment and support sustainable growth across Ireland. Details of current opportunities are available on Uisce Éireann's Careers page, with further information on the CPD Accredited Employer Standard available from Engineers Ireland.
