Local Link Road Backed Between Patrickswell And Attyflin As N/M20 Plan Moves Forward

Limerick City and County Council is advancing the N/M20 Cork to Limerick project in partnership with Cork County Council, Cork City Council, Transport Infrastructure Ireland and the Department of Transport. The scheme remains a priority investment within the Government’s National Development Plan 2021–2030.

The project design was published as part of an update in June 2025. Since then, the team has revisited the Attyflin Junction layout and examined a range of alternatives to respond to concerns about local connectivity.

Following a multidisciplinary review, the N/M20 team is recommending a new local link road to the south of the existing M20, connecting Patrickswell Junction (M20 Junction 4) with Attyflin Junction (M20 Junction 5). The link road will provide additional local connectivity to the future motorway network and address issues raised during public consultation. Details of the proposed link and related design changes are available via the interactive mapping on the project website: www.corklimerick.ie.
