The Land Development Agency (LDA) has announced a new partnership with Reloop to roll out a pilot programme aimed at promoting sustainable living across several residential communities.

The initiative will be introduced at three LDA locations — Barnwell Point, Shanganagh Castle Estate and Parkside — and is designed to provide practical tools to help tenants reduce waste and adopt more environmentally friendly habits in their daily lives.

At the centre of the programme is a lending library, alongside reuse and recycling collection services, allowing residents to share items, cut down on unnecessary purchases and take part in circular economy practices within their communities.

The LDA said the partnership forms part of its wider Sustainable Development Strategy, with the aim of delivering meaningful local impact by reducing consumption and extending the lifecycle of everyday goods.

The scheme promotes a circular economy approach, encouraging residents to reuse, share and redistribute items rather than dispose of them. This is expected to help reduce household waste, prolong the use of clothing, technology and household items, and support more responsible consumption.

Officials said the pilot has been designed to make sustainable living simple, practical and accessible for tenants, while also encouraging greater collaboration and resource-sharing within communities.

If successful, the initiative could inform future sustainability projects across LDA developments nationwide.
