Uisce Éireann has finished a €2 million upgrade to wastewater infrastructure in Loughbollard, Clane, creating capacity that could enable the delivery of up to 560 new homes across the wider area and supporting sustainable community growth.

The works centred on modernising the existing wastewater pumping station at Loughbollard under Uisce Éireann's national Growth and Development Programme. The upgrade boosts network performance and ensures the system can meet the needs of a growing population.

Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne, TD, welcomed the completion of this project: "This is positive news for the community of Clane. Public water and wastewater services are essential to facilitating housing delivery as reflected in our new Housing Action Plan, Delivering Homes, Building Communities. Continued investment is also essential to sustain and improve existing wastewater infrastructure in local communities. Completion of this project provides critical capacity to enable new homes in Kildare and serve the needs of the existing community."

Speaking on the project, Uisce Éireann's Padraic Fitzgerald said: "We are delighted to have delivered these works for the community in Clane. These works have increased the capacity of the wastewater infrastructure, facilitating social and economic growth, including planned residential development. We would like to thank the community for their cooperation while we completed these necessary upgrades."
