Uisce Éireann has begun a programme to replace ageing and damaged water mains in Baltimore, aiming to deliver a more reliable supply for residents and businesses.
Crews will install 290 metres of new, modern piping along Beacon Road, strengthening the local network and helping to minimise bursts and unplanned outages.
The current mains have been prone to leaks and failures, causing interruptions and wasting treated drinking water. The upgrade is intended to cut losses and reduce disruption across the community.
Jack Cronin of Uisce Éireann said: "Every pipe we replace is guided by one clear goal: providing a water supply people can count on. These improvements make a difference every single day, in every tap, home and throughout the community. By focusing on delivering a more reliable supply, we're helping to build a stronger, more resilient water service for the people of Baltimore, now and for generations to come."
Work is scheduled to start in mid-April. It includes installing new customer service connections from the public main to property boundaries and linking them to individual supplies. The project is being delivered by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. on behalf of Uisce Éireann, with completion expected in May 2026.
