Farrans has again received a Certificate of Participation for its continued backing of the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan (AIPP), reaffirming the contractor’s commitment to sustainability and biodiversity across its operations.
The AIPP is an island-wide initiative that unites businesses, communities and public bodies to help halt the decline of pollinating insects and restore vital ecosystems. With one-third of Ireland’s wild bee species currently at risk of extinction, the call for coordinated action remains urgent.
A Business Supporter since 2023, Farrans says it has implemented a series of measures to aid pollinators and enhance biodiversity. These include donating more than 500 pollinator-friendly plants and trees to schools and community groups across Northern Ireland; embedding biodiversity gains on project sites and in offices; delivering environmental volunteering, education and outreach to support local communities; and expanding training and internal engagement to strengthen environmental protection and biodiversity awareness throughout the company.
Farrans has also integrated AIPP principles into its wider sustainability strategy, aligning pollinator-friendly actions with broader environmental and biodiversity objectives. This supports the company’s ambition to achieve no net loss of biodiversity and to deliver positive environmental outcomes across its projects.
