Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council's (LCCC) Planning Committee has approved plans for a major education scheme worth around £60 million, paving the way for significant investment in the council area.
The decision permits the redevelopment of the existing Fort Hill site in Lisburn into an integrated campus combining Fort Hill Integrated College, Fort Hill Integrated Primary School and a nursery unit. The project will deliver modern, high-quality facilities serving learners from nursery through to post-primary level.
The scheme marks a substantial commitment to shared and integrated education, with capacity for up to 850 post-primary pupils alongside primary and nursery provision, including facilities for children with Special Educational Needs.
Around 120 jobs are expected to be created during construction and fit-out, providing an economic boost locally.
Subject to planning conditions, the development aligns closely with LCCC’s Local Development Plan, supporting sustainable growth and essential infrastructure investment, promoting high-quality design and fostering an environment that enhances learning and community wellbeing.
