SSE Secures 552.5MW In Ireland's T-4 Auction

SSE Renewables wins a one-year 20MW onshore wind capacity deal from October 2029 at €135,500/MW, alongside 532MW of flexible power contracts for SSE Thermal; results await approval by the Regulatory Authorities.

SSE has obtained contracts spanning flexible and renewable generation in the T-4 2029/30 capacity auction for the all-island electricity market, supporting security of electricity supply.

In total, SSE was awarded 552.5MW of de-rated capacity. This includes 532MW in single- and multi-year agreements for flexible generation at SSE Thermal and a separate one-year agreement for 20MW of de-rated onshore wind for SSE Renewables, commencing in October 2029 at a clearing price of €135,500/MW.

The auction outcomes are provisional and remain subject to approval by the Regulatory Authorities, with confirmation expected in May 2026.

The T-4 capacity auction is a key element of the all-island wholesale electricity market. It competitively procures capacity from both existing and new-build technologies to ensure sufficient supply at times of peak demand, selecting efficient, lower-cost options and securing capacity four years in advance.

All volumes reported are de-rated in accordance with factors set by the System Operators and approved by the Regulatory Authorities.
