Uisce Éireann teams are replacing more than 700 metres of ageing water mains along the N15, running from McClays Corner to the Admiral Park junction in Stranorlar. The scheme is intended to cut the risk of bursts, enhance water quality and provide a more dependable service for local homes and businesses.
To connect the new infrastructure, a planned shutdown is necessary. Customers in Stranorlar, Ballybofey, Drumkeen, Convoy, Raphoe, Killygordon, Castlefinn and adjoining areas may experience reduced pressure or loss of supply from 5pm on Tuesday, 28 April until 3pm on Wednesday, 29 April while the works take place.
Uisce Éireann's Patricia Lowry said: "These works represent an important step in upgrading the existing water network and will support a more resilient and reliable water supply for Stranorlar and the wider East Donegal area. We recognise that any interruption to supply can be inconvenient, and every effort will be made to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible. We would like to thank customers for their patience and co operation while these essential upgrades are carried out."
When supply is restored, some customers may notice temporary discolouration. Advice on what to do following an outage is available in the Issues During Or After An Outage section of Uisce Éireann's website.
Vulnerable customers who are registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct notifications for planned and unplanned interruptions exceeding four hours. Those wishing to register as a vulnerable customer or nominate an alternative contact can do so via the Vulnerable Customers page.
Uisce Éireann's customer care team is available around the clock on 1800 278 278, and queries can also be made on X at @IWCare.
