Education Minister Paul Givan has performed the official sod-cutting ceremony to launch a significant capital construction project at Edendork Primary School.
The project, which saw boots on the ground starting 27 April, is expected to reach completion by September 2027. The development aims to provide a modern, inspiring environment for both staff and pupils.
Speaking at the ceremony, Paul Givan said: "Today marks the beginning of an exciting chapter for Edendork Primary School. Schools are at the heart of our communities, and it is vital that they provide inspiring environments for teaching and learning. This development will do exactly that, ensuring Edendork can deliver excellent education for generations to come. I commend the school and all those involved for their hard work in reaching this milestone and I wish them every success as the vision for the new school becomes a reality."
Principal Anne McAlinden expressed her pride in the milestone, noting that the new build represents an investment in the future of the local community following years of preparation.
