Uisce Éireann has announced the completion of essential upgrade works on the water network in Doonbeg, providing a more resilient and dependable supply for local residents and businesses. The project is designed to support the daily needs of the community while ensuring the smooth operation of local services.
The works involved the replacement of 4.1km of ageing water mains with modern, high-quality piping. These older sections of the network were frequently subject to leaks and bursts, which historically led to unplanned supply interruptions and the loss of treated drinking water.
Following the conclusion of the pipeline installation, Uisce Éireann will now coordinate with Clare County Council to schedule and carry out permanent road surface reinstatement in the affected areas. The project was delivered by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
Jack Cronin, Programme Manager for Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction, commented on the completion: "We're delighted to have this project completed as we know that families and businesses in Doonbeg have experienced significant disruptions due to the ageing infrastructure in their community. We hope these works are already delivering real benefits for homes and businesses in the area. This is the second mains replacement project completed in Doonbeg within the last year, bringing the total length of new watermains in the area to more than 8km."
