The Lord Mayor of Dublin has welcomed new housing data showing substantial progress in the delivery of homes across Dublin Central. The figures for the first quarter of the year highlight the region as a primary driver for housing completions in Ireland.
According to the latest statistics, the North Inner City recorded 255 housing completions in Q1, representing the second-highest total for any area in the country. This was closely followed by the Cabra-Glasnevin area, which saw 218 homes completed, ranking it third nationally.
The data further reveals that Dublin accounts for three out of every ten housing completions across the state. These figures reflect a period of steady momentum in the construction and delivery of homes intended to meet the high demand for residential property in the capital.
Councillor Ray McAdam, the Lord Mayor of Dublin and Fine Gael candidate for the Dublin Central bye-election, noted that housing remains a primary concern for local residents. He emphasised that these completions represent a tangible impact on the community, providing homes for individuals, couples, and families.
Commenting on the results, Councillor Ray McAdam said: "I'm delighted to see confirmation of the progress we're making in housing in Dublin with today's completion figures. In Q1 this year we've already seen 255 housing completions in the North Inner City, the area second highest number in the country. And in Cabra-Glasnevin 218 were completed – the third highest number.
"These figures show people want to live in Dublin Central and we're delivering the homes they need to do so. It is vital that we keep this momentum going and ensure even more people can get the keys to their new home. These figures reflect real people; individuals, couples and families, who now have a place they can call their own. As a Councillor for 17 years and as Lord Mayor, I have seen the real impact these figures have on our communities.
"Today's figures also show three in ten housing completions were in Dublin. We have momentum in the delivery of housing, but we must keep the progress going. I want to get even more homes delivered for Dublin Central and I want to be able to do that as a TD for Dublin Central."
