NI Water Project Team Wins Prestigious Silver Award for Community Focus

The project team behind NI Water's Moyola to Mullaghboy Trunk Main Project has been honoured with a Silver award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS). The accolade recognises the team's commitment to being "good neighbours" throughout the delivery of a significant water infrastructure improvement scheme in the Magherafelt area.

The two-year programme focused on upgrading a vital water trunk main to ensure a resilient and high-quality water supply for local customers. Throughout the construction phase, the team implemented a strategy of proactive communication, careful traffic management, and rigorous site safety to minimise the impact on local residents and businesses.

The CCS National Site Awards are highly regarded within the UK construction industry, celebrating firms that exceed standard requirements in areas concerning the community, the environment, and the workforce. This project successfully competed against numerous construction sites across the UK to secure the Silver award.

Gary McFadden, NI Water's Senior Project Manager, said: "I was delighted to be part of the team presented with this prestigious award and would like to extend my warmest congratulations to GRAHAM Construction & WSP.

"The project team completed the challenging 2-year water infrastructure improvement scheme, with work completed in a safe and respectful manner with high standards of workmanship demonstrated at all times. Just as importantly, we worked hard to be good neighbours in every community we operated in - communicating clearly in advance of key activities, listening and responding to concerns, and taking practical steps to minimise disruption while protecting the local environment.

"This is a recognition of our contractor and project team's efforts to be the most considerate neighbours. We created additional value in the communities surrounding us and were respectful of the public, workforce, and the environment throughout construction. NI Water is proud to work alongside this calibre of contractor to deliver our extensive portfolio of capital delivery water and wastewater projects across Northern Ireland."
