EirGrid has opened recruitment for a newly created Managing Director of Offshore, a senior leadership position expected to be pivotal to Ireland's energy transition.
At the core of Ireland's electricity system, EirGrid keeps power supplies safe, secure and resilient for homes, communities and businesses, while advancing a cleaner, more adaptable grid that supports long‑term social and economic development.
As Ireland steps up decarbonisation, offshore wind is central to meeting national climate targets for 2030 and 2040.
To deliver on this ambition, EirGrid is establishing a dedicated offshore business to plan, develop and deliver the transmission infrastructure required to integrate offshore renewable energy at scale.
The Managing Director – Offshore will build and lead this new unit, report to the Chief Executive Officer and join EirGrid's Senior Executive Leadership Team.
The role will be accountable for end‑to‑end delivery of major offshore transmission projects, from early planning and consenting through construction to long‑term asset management. With responsibility for significant capital investment, the appointee will work closely with Government, regulators, developers, funders and communities to shape Ireland's offshore electricity network for decades to come.
EirGrid describes this as a rare opportunity for an exceptional leader to play a defining role in Ireland's energy future.
The closing date for applications is 12pm on 29 May 2026.
