Rapid International Technology Powers Progress on Landmark Adare Bypass

Construction News Image

Rapid International Ltd has recently sold Breedon Ireland a Rapidmix RMX400CW continuous mixing plant for the Adare Bypass project. This investment supports the delivery of a major infrastructure scheme requiring high volumes of accurately mixed, precision-bound materials.

As Ireland accelerates investment in critical infrastructure, the Adare Bypass is emerging as one of the country's most strategically significant road projects. Designed to ease chronic congestion in the village of Adare while strengthening regional connectivity, the scheme also carries added importance as Ireland prepares to host the Ryder Cup in 2027 at nearby Adare Manor.

A project of National Significance

Delivering a project of this scale and complexity demands not only engineering expertise, but also the ability to produce large volumes of high-quality construction materials with consistency and precision. It is here that the Rapidmix 400CW from Rapid International Ltd, headquartered in County Armagh, has provided huge advantages to Breedon.

Part of the wider Breedon Group, Breedon Ireland has established itself as one of the country's leading construction materials and contracting businesses. With capabilities spanning aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, and civil engineering services, the company continues to play a central role in delivering major infrastructure projects across Ireland.

Engineering Performance at Scale

For the Adare Bypass, Breedon Ireland required a solution capable of meeting rigorous modern road specifications while maintaining high output and operational efficiency across a multi-phase build.

Rapid International responded by supplying its Rapidmix RMX400CW continuous mixing plant. A system specifically engineered for high-capacity, high-accuracy production.

The plant is being used to produce Cement Bound Granular Material (CGBM), a critical component in modern road construction. With output rates of up to 400 tonnes per hour and mixing accuracy within 1%, the Rapidmix system ensures a consistent, homogenous material essential for long-term road performance and durability.

Beyond performance, mobility has proven to be a defining advantage. The fully self-contained design allows the plant to be quickly deployed and repositioned on-site as construction progresses, reducing downtime and minimising logistical complexity. This flexibility has enabled Breedon Ireland to maintain momentum across different phases of the project while ensuring a steady, reliable material supply.

Rapid International has also supported Breedon with ongoing technical expertise, helping to ensure smooth integration and dependable operation throughout the construction process with the Rapidmix.

Delivering Results on Site

The impact of the Rapidmix RMX400CW has been evident throughout the project thus far. Its ability to maintain high production output has helped the team meet demanding programme schedules, while consistent material quality supports the long-term durability of the road.

On-site mixing has reduced logistical complexity, and the plant's rapid setup and ease of operation have contributed to improved overall efficiency as works progress.

Proven in Practice

Brian McManus, Managing Director of Breedon Ireland's Contracting division, highlighted the value of the solution: "It delivers the high output needed to keep pace with a demanding schedule, while consistently producing the quality of material required."

He also pointed to the plant's mobility, ease of use, and the importance of ongoing technical support in maintaining performance on a fast-moving project.

Building for the Future

As construction continues on the 7km motorway, including a major three-span bridge over the River Maigue and a series of new interchanges, the role of high-performance material production remains central to progress.

Integrating the machine into such a project demonstrates how advanced mixing technology is helping to underpin modern infrastructure delivery. By combining precision, output, and adaptability, solutions like the Rapidmix RMX400CW are not only meeting the demands of today's projects, but also helping to future-proof Ireland's transport network.
