Gilbert-Ash, the award-winning construction and fit-out contractor, has secured a position on the UK's Best Places to Work list for the second year running.
The firm, known for its involvement in delivering some of the most iconic buildings across Ireland and the UK, has been featured in this year's Sunday Times Best Places to Work list. The nationwide workplace survey highlights and celebrates top employers across multiple sectors. In addition to its main listing, Gilbert-Ash received a high commendation in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work 55+ category.
The awards rely on feedback gathered from questions formulated by psychologists, data analysts, behavioural scientists, academics, and business leaders. This methodology provides an accurate reflection of workplace wellbeing, employee engagement, and discretionary effort.
Gilbert-Ash secured a strong overall engagement rating, achieving high scores across a six-part assessment framework that monitors pride, reward and recognition, empowerment, information sharing, job satisfaction, and wellbeing. The survey results indicate that 92% of the workforce feels proud to work for the contractor, while 90% of employees would recommend Gilbert-Ash to friends and family as an employer.
Ray Hutchinson, Managing Director of Gilbert-Ash, expressed pride that the business has retained this prestigious recognition.
He said: "At Gilbert-Ash, our people are at the heart of everything we do. Their skill, commitment and professionalism are what give clients the confidence to trust us with landmark projects, and that often leads to long-standing relationships built over many years.
"Our 'As One' ethos means every voice is valued, and that shared sense of purpose helps us deliver exceptional buildings and outstanding outcomes for our clients.
"To be named in the Sunday Times Best Places to Work once again is a real endorsement of the culture we have built at Gilbert-Ash.
"These results show our people believe we are a supportive, ambitious and rewarding company.
"Being highly commended in the 55+ category also reflects our commitment to supporting our people throughout their entire career, and that is something we are very proud of."
Projects completed by Gilbert-Ash have reached the RIBA Stirling Prize shortlist on five separate occasions. These include the National Portrait Gallery in 2024, the Cambridge Central Mosque in 2021, the Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre in 2013, and the Lyric Theatre in 2012, alongside the Everyman Theatre which won the prestigious prize in 2014.
The contractor is presently delivering multiple landmark developments, such as major refurbishment works at Tate Liverpool, a new sports complex at Eton College in Windsor, and a new technology campus located in Bristol.
Zoe Thomas, editor of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work, stated: "In an evolving world of work, Britain's leading employers are helping staff forge careers that count today and in the future.
"In turn, the Best Places to Work have the resilience to weather the current economic storms, thanks to engaged workers who go above and beyond with a smile.
"The thread that joins all of our winning employers is the belief that a happy workforce is a stepping stone to better performance, faster growth, and bigger profits. More than that, there's a collective instinct that a contented rank-and-file is a worthwhile business goal in and of itself."
Gilbert-Ash is currently running its Make Your Mark initiative to draw top talent to the business. The campaign focuses on the high calibre of projects the company completes across various sectors while celebrating the successes of its workforce. Further details can be found at www.gilbert-ash.com.
