Dublin City Council has published its Pre‑Planning Design Consultation Report for the Grow College Green scheme, confirming robust public support for reimagining the historic heart of Dublin as a lively, people‑centred public realm.
Presented to the Council's Mobility and Public Realm Strategic Policy Committee on 27 May, the report summarises a four‑week consultation held from February to March 2026. The latest engagement, which follows two earlier rounds at pre‑design and emerging design stages, drew over 1,800 submissions from stakeholders including local businesses, residents and Disabled Persons Representative Organisations.
Overall, 81.2% of respondents expressed support for the proposals, indicating strong public backing for a greener, safer and more accessible city centre.
Submissions showed clear approval for prioritising pedestrians, enabling cycling access, reducing vehicular traffic and delivering a high‑quality civic space. Respondents also endorsed measures to increase greening, boost biodiversity and improve climate resilience, as well as enhancements to the wider public realm and the setting of the area's historic architecture.
The consultation also raised observations around accessibility, public safety, long‑term maintenance and connectivity.
Dublin City Council will use the feedback to refine and strengthen the final design before lodging a planning application later this summer. Ongoing stakeholder engagement will continue as the project advances to ensure Grow College Green delivers a sustainable, inclusive and welcoming space for all.
