Waterford City and County Council has secured the Fit-Out/Refurbishment Award (up to €1.5m) for its 29 The Glen project at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards. Established in 2014, the awards programme recognises innovative developments that establish high benchmarks across the built environment.
The accolade was presented during an awards ceremony held at the Convention Centre in Dublin.
The successful renovation is part of a broader, continuous initiative by the Council to tackle vacancy and dereliction across the city. Through this strategy, the local authority aims to construct new, sustainable social housing options within long-standing residential areas.
The 29 The Glen development successfully created four premium, one-bedroom apartments. These units have since been assigned to tenants selected from the Council's social housing register, a move designed to enhance and support residential amenity throughout the surrounding community.
