Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £340,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme on the A6 Glenshane Road in Maghera.
The project will cover approximately 600 metres of the climbing lane at Coolnasillagh Road, improving the surface for all road users.
Minister Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment on the A6 route and for the Maghera area which will deliver significant benefits for road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."
Throughout the works, two-way traffic will be maintained via a convoy traffic management system. A mandatory 40mph speed limit will apply and overtaking will be prohibited.
The Department has arranged operations and traffic management to minimise disruption. While local access will be accommodated where possible, road users should expect some delays, allow extra time for journeys near the site and follow all temporary restrictions.
Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially complete by Saturday 13 June 2026.
