Construction is progressing well on a new underground stormwater storage tank off the Mill Road in Carryduff. The project, which is being delivered by principal contractor Murphy Dawson WAM JV, aims to significantly increase the capacity of the local wastewater network while supporting ongoing development across the Carryduff and Newtownbreda areas.
The current phase of the infrastructure project involves the installation of three new manholes on Mill Road. These structures are essential to divert existing wastewater flows directly into the newly constructed storage facility.
To ensure the safety of both the public and the site workforce during these engineering works, Mill Road has been closed to through traffic between its junctions with Mealough Road and Old Saintfield Road. This closure will remain in place until Friday 19 June.
The designated working area is situated between Mill Road West and Millburn Close. Local access for residents is being maintained from either side of the closure, and a fully signed diversion route via Saintfield Road has been established for motorists.
The project delivery team, comprising NI Water, AECOM, and Murphy Dawson WAM, has extended its thanks to the public for their ongoing patience and cooperation during the delivery of these essential environmental and network improvements.
