Elected Members of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council have visited the Fermanagh Lakeland Forum redevelopment site in Enniskillen, getting a first-hand look at progress on the landmark £70 million scheme.
During the tour, Members stood within the footprint of the new eight‑lane swimming pool and received an update from Will Gott, Project Manager at GRAHAM, who outlined construction progress to date, the involvement of local subcontractors and suppliers, and the social value programmes being delivered across the district.
Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Barry McElduff, said: "It is excellent to see the progress being made on this important redevelopment project, with construction continuing to move forward at pace and on track. Standing within the footprint of the new eight-lane swimming pool really brings the scale of the development to life.
"I was very interested to hear more about the wide range of subcontractors and suppliers involved, and the strong social value element being delivered through GRAHAM's work. This is a significant investment for the District and will provide a modern, high quality leisure facility for our residents and visitors."
Backed by £20 million of UK Government funding, the project will deliver a cutting‑edge leisure, health and wellbeing hub overlooking the River Erne. Plans include multiple pools, a gym and fitness suite, community wellbeing areas, a sensory room, soft play and a café, alongside extensive outdoor amenities such as a destination play park, pump track, 3G pitch, an active waterfront, and walking and cycling trails.
The complex is designed to achieve Passivhaus certification—an Irish first for a leisure centre—providing exceptional energy efficiency and a reduced environmental footprint.
Alternative leisure and recreation options remain available across the district during construction. The new hub is scheduled to open in 2028. Further information is available on the council's website at www.femanaghomagh.com.
