Radius Housing has been honoured at the RTPI Awards 2026, taking the top accolade for its Tates Avenue development in south Belfast and earning a commendation for the transformational St Patrick’s Barracks scheme in Ballymena.

The award-winning Tates Avenue project is a carefully designed urban infill development delivering 47 much-needed social homes within the existing city fabric. It comprises two four-storey apartment buildings, creating accommodation for around 135 people currently on the housing waiting list, addressing pressing demand while supporting compact, sustainable growth.

This recognition underscores the effectiveness of strong partnership working and the shared commitment to creating well-designed places that leave a lasting positive impact on local communities.

Radius extended its thanks to McGirr Architects Ltd — notably Conor McGirr, Paul Hetherington and Barry O’Donnell — whose expertise, creativity and dedication were central to the success of Tates Avenue. The organisation also acknowledged the excellent work of Newpark Homes in delivering the development.

These results highlight what can be achieved through collaboration, ambitious placemaking and a collective focus on meeting housing need across Northern Ireland.
