Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage that funding has been approved for a first phase of projects under the Housing Infrastructure Investment Fund (HIIF).
Four priority schemes in the county have been selected. Together they will unlock serviced land for new homes, strengthen transport links and support the sustainable growth of communities.
Cherrywood SDZ – Lehaunstown Neighbourhood Road (indicative cost band under €10m): A new road in the Cherrywood Strategic Development Zone will serve emerging residential lands, including Council-owned plots designated for housing. Cherrywood is a key growth area supported by major investment in public transport (including the LUAS), as well as road and energy infrastructure. The scheme will directly enable delivery of about 555 homes and support the development of a further 2,800 in the wider area.
Sandyford Civic Park (indicative cost band under €10m): A new urban park will be created at the centre of the Sandyford Business District, enhancing public space in one of the county’s most significant employment and residential hubs. The project will help unlock land for roughly 3,630 homes, with potential to support a further 3,820, complementing ongoing investment in sustainable transport, the public realm and essential utilities.
Old Connaught – M11 Bridge And Link Roads (indicative cost band over €20m): This transport scheme will deliver a new bridge and link roads over the M11, connecting Woodbrook/Shankill to Old Connaught, alongside associated drainage works. It will substantially improve connectivity and directly enable approximately 3,690 homes, while supporting a further 6,430.
Kiltiernan Park Phase 2 (indicative cost band under €10m): The second phase will deliver a new public park to serve the growing local community. Alongside improved transport infrastructure, the project will help unlock land for about 1,600 homes, with scope to support a further 500.
These investments build on ongoing works in Cherrywood, Sandyford and other growth locations, where new infrastructure is already opening up housing opportunities and creating well-connected, sustainable neighbourhoods. The Council will continue to work with Government and partners to deliver the infrastructure needed to support homes, jobs and quality of life across the county.
