With Leaving Certificate exams now completed and the final CAO Change of Mind deadline drawing near, Coillte is urging students interested in a forestry career to note that applications for its Forestry Scholarship Programme close on Monday, 6 July.
The package offers up to €20,000 over the duration of a forestry degree, together with paid summer placements and the prospect of future career opportunities at Coillte. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply now via Coillte’s careers portal.
Established to meet Ireland's growing demand for skilled forestry professionals, the programme supports students starting full-time undergraduate forestry degrees at University College Dublin (UCD) or South East Technological University (SETU) from September 2026. Recipients receive €5,000 per year for the length of the degree, an opportunity for a paid summer placement with Coillte, and, upon successful completion, consideration for roles within the organisation. Interest has risen strongly, with applications up 25% over the past year.
Speaking ahead of the application deadline, Mark Carlin, Managing Director, Coillte Forest said: "Forestry offers students the opportunity to build a meaningful career in a sector that is central to climate action, biodiversity, sustainable timber supply and rural development. As the application deadline approaches, we are encouraging anyone considering forestry as a study or career path to take this final opportunity to apply.
"Through the Coillte Forestry Scholarship Programme, students can access financial support, practical experience and exposure to future career opportunities. We are keen to support the next generation of forestry professionals and would encourage eligible students to submit their applications before Monday 6th July."
