Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced a £250,000 carriageway resurfacing project on the A32 Irvinestown Road in Enniskillen, covering the stretch between Cherrymount Roundabout and Hospital Roundabout.
Works are scheduled from Monday 20 July to Friday 24 July 2026.
The programme includes resurfacing approximately 0.7 km of the carriageway and the replacement of a defective road culvert.
Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment of £250,000 for the A32 Irvinestown Road will deliver significant benefits for road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network. This work will greatly improve the strength and surface quality of this section of the road network to the benefit of all road users."
For the duration of the works, the A32 Irvinestown Road will be closed to through traffic. A signed diversion will operate in both directions from the A32 Cherrymount Roundabout via A32 Cherrymount Road, A4 Belfast Road, A4 Colebrooke Road, A4 Edfield Way, A4 Ballagh Road, A4 Crossowen Road, A4 Annaghilla Road to Ballygawley Roundabout, then the A5 Omagh Road, A5 Curr Road, A5 Doogary Road, A5 Great Northern Road (Omagh), before returning to the A32 via Clanabogan Road, Omagh Road, Tummery Road and Dromore Road. Local diversions will also be in place.
Access for emergency vehicles to the South West Acute Hospital, and for residents within the closed section, will be maintained at all times.
To help protect road users and the workforce, the public is asked to follow all temporary traffic measures and drive with extra care near the site.
The Department has scheduled operations and traffic management to minimise disruption; however, some delays are expected. Drivers should allow additional time for journeys and adhere to all temporary restrictions and diversion signage.
Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially complete by Friday 24 July 2026.
