Coffey Marks Year Since Growth Plan With €140m Turnover

Construction News Image

A year after introducing its strategic growth plan, Coffey has sustained a robust position in a competitive construction market, posting group turnover of €140m in 2025. The outcome reflects a deliberate emphasis on reliable delivery, strong discipline and capability building, despite sector-wide cost pressures, programme constraints and continued demand for essential infrastructure.

Established in 1974 and headquartered in Athenry, Co Galway, Coffey operates across Ireland and the UK, delivering projects in four core areas: water infrastructure, energy infrastructure, transport infrastructure and civil engineering. This balanced mix supports public and private clients while maintaining a steady pipeline of work across multiple regions.

Water infrastructure remains at the heart of the business. Coffey is delivering treatment plants, network upgrades and associated civil works for major utility clients. Recent and current schemes include the Castletroy Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade, completed in a live operational setting; the Enfield Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion; and the Duleek to Navan trunk watermain, which strengthens drinking water resilience in County Meath for a growing population.

In energy, Coffey is expanding its capability to meet evolving needs in Ireland and the UK. This includes constructing Stream BioEnergy's biomethane facility at Little Island, Cork, which will convert organic waste into renewable gas for injection into the national grid, improving resource efficiency and supporting lower-carbon infrastructure.

The company's transport and civil engineering work continues to advance public realm, active travel and community projects. Highlights include the Ringaskiddy public realm scheme and active travel programmes across Galway and Roscommon, contributing to safer, more accessible and better-connected infrastructure aligned with national and regional priorities.

Coffey is also investing in operational capacity. Its specialist technology division, Coftec, provides modular and packaged treatment solutions that combine offsite manufacture, digital design and practical engineering to enable efficient, predictable delivery, particularly on fast-track programmes or where operational continuity is critical. Ongoing investment in people, training, health and safety, and digital systems continues to enhance project planning, management and execution.

This approach is underpinned by Coffey's values of Do the Right Thing, Do It Better and Do It Together, guiding relationships with clients, partners and communities.

As it moves into the next phase of its strategy, Coffey remains focused on consistent delivery, sector expertise and long-term client partnerships. With a stable financial base, a broad portfolio and continued investment in capability, the company is well positioned to support evolving infrastructure needs across Ireland and the UK.
