Emergency Repairs Restore Water To Ennis And Shannon

Construction News Image

Supplies have been reinstated for most customers in Ennis and Shannon following emergency works on two significant bursts, Uisce Éireann has confirmed.

Crews repaired a major break on the main feeding the Ennis Water Treatment Plant, bringing water back to Ennis town and surrounding areas. An alternative water supply will remain at Ennis Mart until 9pm this evening; customers should bring their own containers and, as a precaution, boil any water collected before drinking.

In a separate incident, engineers worked through the night to address a substantial burst in Shannon. Supply is now returning to customers in Shannon town, Shannon Industrial Park and nearby areas. After an unplanned outage, normal service typically takes three to four hours to reach all properties, with those at the end of the network or on higher ground likely to experience longer restoration times as the system repressurises.

Darragh Conneely of Uisce Éireann said: "Our crews worked tirelessly to restore normal water supply. We understand the inconvenience caused by this unplanned outage and would like to thank customers for their patience and cooperation while repairs were completed."
