Repairs Under Way To Restore Water In Birr After Burst Watermain

Construction News Image

Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to homes, businesses and community facilities in Birr Town and nearby areas following a burst watermain.

The incident has caused interruptions for customers across the town and neighbouring communities. As repairs progress, some customers may experience outages, reduced pressure and discoloured water. When works conclude later today, it may take several hours for normal service to return as the network refills.

James Joyce, Water Operations Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: "Our priority is to return water services to the community as quickly as possible while ensuring repairs are completed safely. We understand the disruption that water outages can cause for homes, businesses and the wider community, and we would like to thank customers in Birr Town and the surrounding areas for their patience while crews carry out these essential repairs.

"Our teams have been mobilised and are working to repair the burst and restore water supply to affected customers. Every effort is being made to minimise disruption and restore supplies as quickly as possible."

Traffic management has been put in place on the N52 at Riverwalk, opposite the service station, to facilitate the works. Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and follow all measures in place.
