Gas Networks Ireland has appointed Diarmuid Collins as Director of Customer and Business Development, strengthening its senior team as the organisation expands its role in delivering a cleaner, more secure and sustainable energy system for Ireland.

Collins brings more than 15 years' experience at Gas Networks Ireland, having held senior posts across Treasury, Investor Relations and Commercial Finance. He also served as Acting Chief Financial Officer for 13 months while the recruitment process for a permanent CEO was underway.

In his new position, Collins will lead customer and business development activities, supporting the company's ambition to transition from natural gas to renewable gases, including biomethane and green hydrogen. These solutions have the potential to significantly cut Ireland's carbon emissions, complement intermittent renewable electricity generation and bolster energy security. He will also assume executive responsibility for Aurora Telecom, a division of Gas Networks Ireland.

Originally from Nohoval in Co Cork, Collins is a Business graduate of the University of Limerick and holds a Master's degree in Economics and Finance from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. He is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
