Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed a £854,000 programme to resurface the B99 Waterfall Road/Watchill Road in Larne.

The scheme covers approximately 2.97km from the Ballyrickard Road/Waterfall Road junction to the New Line junction. Work is due to commence on Monday 3 August 2026 and is anticipated to last for around five weeks.

Minister Liz Kimmins said: "This is a substantial investment for the Larne area which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. The investment demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses, and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To deliver the works safely, a continuous road closure will operate from Monday 3 August 2026 to Friday 11 September 2026.

During the closure, a signed diversion will direct traffic via A8 Belfast Road – B59 Doagh Road – B90 Old Carrick / Upper Road and vice versa.

The Department has scheduled operations and traffic management to reduce disruption. While local access will be facilitated as far as possible, road users should expect some delays, allow additional time for journeys and comply with all temporary traffic restrictions.

Subject to favourable weather, the scheme is expected to be substantially complete by Friday 11 September 2026. The Department will keep the public informed of any changes.
