Clare County Council will present proposals to create a landbank of eight fully serviced sites for new private homes in Feakle at an open public consultation on Thursday, 30 July 2026, from 6pm to 8pm at Feakle Community Centre, Main Street, Feakle, Co Clare (V94 X2V0).

The Feakle initiative is the second of its kind in County Clare to progress under the Ready to Build Scheme: Serviced Sites for New Homes – Croí Cónaithe (Towns) Fund, following a project in Lisdoonvarna.

The Ready to Build Scheme offers discounted, fully serviced plots in towns and villages to support the construction of principal private residences. It aims to stimulate homebuilding in rural town settings, drive regeneration, strengthen communities and address local housing needs.

Planned works for the Feakle site include a new service road with footpaths, provision of public amenity open space and all necessary site services.

Eligibility to purchase will be based on a framework of priorities, including First Time Buyers and those who meet the “Fresh Start” principle, as well as people with specific needs such as disabled people or older people selling their existing home to relocate to a town or village.

Through the scheme, the council will sell the serviced sites in Feakle, complete with the above infrastructure, at a discount to market value. The scheme is intended for individuals and families who wish to build a home in a town or village and live in it as their primary residence.

A Part VIII planning application for the development will be lodged in the coming period.
