Coffey has been awarded Phase 1A of the Woodford Constructed Wetlands project in County Galway, part of Uisce Éireann's national framework to deliver nature-based wastewater infrastructure.
The framework advances projects through a phased programme spanning assessment, design, construction, commissioning and optimisation.
The Woodford scheme will enable a new constructed wetland wastewater treatment plant alongside upgrades to existing wastewater infrastructure. The proposals include a new rising main, treatment wetland cells and a new outfall to the Woodford River. The design features engineered wetland cells, defined vegetation zones, perimeter berms and associated works across an area approaching 12,000m².
Under Phase 1A, Coffey will carry out site assessments, constructability reviews, topographical and structural surveys, flow and load monitoring, and geotechnical investigations to inform subsequent stages of delivery. Working in collaboration with Uisce Éireann and Stantec, these activities will establish the technical foundations for the scheme.
