Works to replace nearly 2km of ageing water mains between Toomans and Keshcarrigan will start this week, aiming to curb leaks and strengthen supplies for Keshcarrigan and the wider Ballinamore area.

Uisce Éireann will commence a major upgrade of the local water network, with close to 2km of older mains being replaced to enhance the reliability and resilience of services for customers.

The scheme forms part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme, which focuses on improving service for homes and businesses while cutting the volume of treated water lost through leaks.

Uisce Éireann's Programme Manager, Patricia Lowry, highlighted the benefit of the project for the local community: "This project is a significant investment in water infrastructure for Keshcarrigan and the wider Ballinamore area. By replacing close to 2km of ageing water mains, we are improving service reliability and helping to safeguard water supplies for the future.

Delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction, the project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2027.

To facilitate the safe delivery of the works, traffic management will be in place at various stages. A road closure will operate on the L3051 until September, followed by a closure on the R209 between Keshcarrigan Road and Fenagh Road until October.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted, local access will be maintained, and work areas will be kept to short sections where possible to minimise disruption.
