Uisce Éireann, in consultation with the HSE, has cleared customers on the Achill Public Water Supply and affected group water schemes to use water as normal after remedial works and consistent, satisfactory sampling.

The Boil Water Notice on the Achill Public Water Supply has been lifted with immediate effect, Uisce Éireann has confirmed.

Following consultation with the Health Service Executive (HSE), customers on this supply can now resume normal use of their tap water.

The decision also applies to members of the group water schemes previously impacted — Ards / Currane, Bleanaskil 1, Dooega, Dooniver, Dugort No.1, Dugort No.2, Sraheen (Achill) and Valley 1 — who can likewise return to normal use.

Uisce Éireann said the move follows remedial works at the Achill Water Treatment Plant and a series of satisfactory water quality test results.

The notice was introduced on Tuesday, 14 July to safeguard approximately 2,557 customers after treatment process issues coincided with high demand on the network.

Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked to lift the restriction as quickly and as safely as possible.
