Phase 2 of the Swords Public Realm works has begun on North Street and is scheduled to run until December 2026.
Businesses on North Street remain open throughout the construction period.
This stage will deliver a range of improvements, including placing overhead services underground, installing new paving and footpaths, adding seating and landscaping, and upgrading pedestrian crossings.
To facilitate the works, North Street is operating as a single northbound lane between Main Street and Fingal Community College. Northbound traffic is otherwise unaffected, and pedestrian access between Main Street and North Street will be maintained at all times.
Southbound drivers can still reach properties as far as Fingal Community College but cannot continue onto Main Street. Diversions are signposted via Watery Lane or the R132 for southbound traffic aiming to access Main Street.
Public transport is also affected for southbound services towards Dublin City, which are being diverted off North Street. The stops outside Des Kelly Carpets and outside Carnegie Court Hotel are temporarily closed.
Passengers can use the temporary stop on Balheary Road opposite the Fire Station, or existing southbound stops on Main Street. Northbound buses towards Balbriggan/Portrane are not affected, and the stop outside Swords Cycle Centre remains in service.
